Einstein House & the Swiss capital: Bern

Most people think Switzerland's capital is either Zurich or Geneva. Not true. Its capital is a beautiful small city called Bern. And I have read that it is a lot more fun than both Zurich & Geneva combined. This is the first European city I visited, and I really loved it. (and no, Britain is not part of Europe). The town is tiny, and it's about as big as Ljubljana in Slovenia. But it's filled with charms. I will definitely revisit it in the future.

This is the CV, or resume, from the most influential scientist of our age, if not all time.

Was it here that Einstein got the idea of the special theory of relativity?

or here? in the livingroom?

1905. The miracle year. Annus Mirabilis. In one short year, Einstein published not one, not two, but FOUR groundbreaking articles that contributed to the foundation of modern physics, and changed views on space, time and matter.

Amazing... what have you done in the last year?

street view of Bern. Quit and peaceful.

statues are everywhere

This is actually one of the two main streets in Bern. Quite empty of pedestrians.

famous clock tower which has stood for over 500 years

Bern is named after a Bear.

The river is so clean that it is actually green. I have seen such beautiful water two other times in my life. Once is in Canadian Rocky mountains, and the other in Lake Bled.

inside a famous Gothic church (can't recall the names after been to too many of them)

Gothic glasses are magnificent when sunlights pass through the windows. But then again, they look ordinary after visiting way too many churches during my backpacking trips.
Spoiled, I am.

click to enlarge the picture. If you are on the left, Hallelujah. On the right, you are fucked. Sentenced to eternity in hell.

outrageous pricing (for a backpacker). 3 tiny spring rolls cost $6 USD

one phenomenon that intrigued me a lot. I took this picture in a crowded supermarket.
 (what's so special??)

well, the picture is take at 8:30, on a Sunday morning. Swiss sure wake up quite early... And they are actually doing something useful.
(unlike, say, people snoozing in church)

next stop. Lauterbrunnen. The most beautiful place on earth.
It's okay if you haven't been there. Remember what Einstein said.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge"
